These drawings were made with images appropriated from newspaper articles, official documents and photographs about highway construction projects in the United States.

Each piece was made by rubbing a traced version of a photocopied image onto heavy rag paper, resulting in an embossed effect that reads like a print. Though the drawings are unique, they are copies of copies that have deteriorated with each successive generation, while the grand structures that are their subjects remain stamped permanently into the landscape.
